Bulletin
Dear Colleague,
the response to
the invitation to present talks at the VIth International Meeting on Front End
Electronics has been outstanding. We have 48 talks scheduled over four days,
and we are now working to prepare the detailed agenda. The complete list of
talks and speakers can be found on the conference web site: http://fee2006.pg.infn.it. The meeting
agenda will be updated with session list and with abstracts as they become
available.
The meeting will
start on Wednesday morning at 9:00 am and will continue with two daily
sessions, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 2:30 to 6:30 pm. The meeting will
end on Saturday 20th at 1:00 pm. On Thursday 18th in the
afternoon there will be an excursion to visit the surrounding area while the
social dinner is planned in the evening of Friday 19th.
Two talks from
industry will enrich our program this year. Dr. Terry Gilton, Director of
Product Technology at Micron Technology, will talk about the CMOS Image Sensor
technology as seen by producers of consumer electronics. Dr Armin Klumpp from Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and
Microintegration in Munich will speak about 3D electronics and system
integration.
Registration:
Although the
program schedule is full by now, there is still some space available for people
willing to attend the meeting without presenting a talk: please inform other
colleagues of yours that would be interested in the program. Registrations will
be accepted as long as there is meeting room space and hotel rooms available.
The registration
fee for the meeting is 120 Euro and must be paid upon arrival. Please note
that only cash payment in Euro can be accepted. The
registration desk, organized in the hall of the hotel, will be open 5:00 to
8:00 pm on Tuesday 16th and 9:00 to 11:00 am on Wednesday 17th. The registration
fee includes the organization expenses, the excursion and the social dinner.
Speaker
Information:
Speakers should
bring an electronic version of their talk to be given to the registration desk
when checking in. This copy will
be loaded onto the presentations computer and used to prepare a CD that will be
sent to all participants after the meeting.
A computer, with
PowerPoint and Acrobat Reader installed, and projector will be available for
presentations. An overhead transparency projector will be made available only
upon explicit request.
A short summary
of the talk should have been submitted to the Conference Secretary with the
registration form. If the abstract
was not submitted at that time, please send it to fee2006@pg.infn.it as soon as
possible.
Accommodation:
A block of rooms
has been reserved at the Hotel Gi˜, where the meeting will be held, at a
special price of 87 Euro per night, with breakfast and lunch included
(participants will have the possibility to have dinner at the restaurant of the
hotel or in other restaurants in the area). All attendees must make their own
hotel reservation by sending to both the hotel (hotelgio@interbusiness.it) and the
organizers (fee2006@pg.infn.it) the
hotel reservation form available on the conference web page. Deadline for
the hotel reservation is April 30th 2006.
Please note that
arrangements have been made with the hotel for the dinner on Tuesday May 16th
and for the night on Saturday 20th. Early arrival and longer stay
have to be agreed directly with the hotel.
Travel:
Participants
should plan to arrive by Tuesday night, May 16th, in order to attend
the beginning of the meeting on Wednesday morning.
Perugia can be
reached by plane directly, at the Sant Egidio Airport, only coming from Milano
with Alitalia. Public bus service to the Hotel Gio is available at the airport
in connection with the incoming flights (ticket on the bus will cost about 3 Û).
A second option
is to fly to Roma Fiumicino Airport: you can then reach Perugia with public
transportation either by bus or by train. Buses to Perugia leave from the
parking lot in front of Terminal C arrivals at 12.30 am, 2.30 and 5.00 pm and
take approximately four hours to arrive to Perugia (ticket on the bus will cost
20 Û). By train, there is a direct connection to Roma Termini station where you
need to change train to arrive to Perugia (please allow yourself a minimum of
30 minutes in Roma Termini to change train).
For people
travelling from Geneva there are cheap flights to Roma Ciampino Airport. From
there the simplest option is to rent a car and drive to Perugia. The
alternative is to reach Roma Termini station and arrive to Perugia by train.
More detailed
information can be found at the conference web site where are also available
maps for those who will arrive by car.
We thank all the
speakers who are taking the time to present their work: with your participation
and contribution we are sure we will have another successful meeting. This will
be a wonderful opportunity to meet in a relaxed setting and discuss some of the
latest developments in the field of advanced electronics.
With best
regards,
